Felix Zeltner has been a host of The Hof since the start of our format 2020. Of course, he was also there when The Hof Community came together live in New York for the first time on Tuesday to discuss about "How To Bridge Generational Gaps in Publishing". ❓ When asked how to deal productively with the generational change in the publishing industry, judy clain answers: "Have as little hierarchy as possible, have transparency, have as many meetings as possible as a group, a place where you are all there together as a team. Learning, listening, being curious. Every single person is teaching me. If you open the door, people have amazing things to say." ❗ It is important to keep an eye on the needs of the generation, emphasises Aaron Robertson, underlining this with the observation that many young people are leaving the industry: "They left for material concerns and personal goals. I am glad that people were able to step back and reconsider what they want." We are already looking forward to the next gathering of the community - no matter where - and conclude with Maria Goldverg's words: 📚 "When a book catches readers, when this happens you feel like you made something beautiful come into the world. #Publishing #fbm24
The next generation is entering the #publishing industry. A generation that is highly entrepreneurial, digitally native and open to sensitive topics – sometimes more so than their experienced peers. So how can different #generations in publishing bridge their gaps? How does #mentoring look like in a hybrid work environment? And what's a fair #salary in one of the most expensive places in the world? It was a huge honor to discuss this and more so openly with judy clain, Maria Goldverg and Aaron Robertson and an amazing group of professionals at THE HOF – LIVE IN NEW YORK CITY! The first-ever in-person U.S. edition of the global networking series #TheHof by Frankfurter Buchmesse and Remote Daily took place at the wonderful Society of Illustrators, complete with live music, drinks and networking. The discussion ended on courage, optimism and willingness to change the game – and even made it on the digital cover of Publishers Weekly today! 📰 The thing that’s lacking the most when it comes to a more inclusive publishing industry? As our speaker Maria put it: “We need to talk more between generations.” I’m glad we had a chance to do so – and continued today, virtually with 100+ participants from 5 continents. To many more! ✨
